In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in New York; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and New York follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Such a great meal at Nounou Noodle! The Tropical Salad was a lovely surpriseโ€”the sweet and tangy shaved ice paired with fresh fruit was incredibly refreshing and really woke up the palate. The Prawn Cold Noodles were light and bright, with a beautiful lemony aroma, and the prawns tasted super fresh. The Khao Soi Rib was on the richer side, with a flavorful, comforting sauce and a very generous piece of tender meat. Super satisfying and a great contrast to the lighter dishes. Definitely worth trying!

Nounou Noodle Bar really impressed me with how thoughtfully each dish was seasoned. The flavors are layered and balanced rather than simply being bold. The Shiro Karaage was crispy and juicy, with a wasabi-miso cream cheese dip that had richness from the cream cheese, savory depth from miso, and a light wasabi kick at the end. The Truffle Croquettes had a great contrast of textures, with sweet corn, mushrooms, truffle, a crisp panko crust, and seaweed flakes adding extra umami. The Khao Soi Dry Ribs was one of my favorites. The coconut curry was rich and aromatic, while the pickled red onions added just enough acidity to cut through the richness. The Drunken Shrimp was a fun East-meets-West combination, with spicy Asian-inspired sauce, Parmesan for extra savory depth, and basil to brighten everything up. Overall, you can really tell the chef knows how to build flavors in layers. A creative and memorable Asian fusion spot in the East Village.

Donโ€™t let the word "noodle" in the name fool you, this isnโ€™t just another traditional ramen shop. Hidden in the East Village, NouNou Noodle Bar is more like an Asian flavor lab. Chef Kim brings a blend of Eastern and Western kitchen experience to the menu, taking inspiration from his travels and upbringing across Asia to re-imagine different noodle traditions. Everything we ordered was fantastic: Shiro Karaage: Crispy, juicy fried chicken paired with an incredible wasabi-miso cream cheese dip that adds a unique, zesty kick. Truffle Croquettes: Golden, crispy panko croquettes packed with sweet corn, mushrooms, and a rich truffle aroma. Green Curry Crab: Rice vermicelli coated in a flavor-packed Thai green curry, topped with a crispy soft-shell crab. A bold, savory combo. Khao Soi Ribs: A standout dish. Rich, aromatic housemade coconut curry over springy egg noodles, served with tender baby back ribs that fall right off the bone. Piah': Do not skip dessert! A unique mung bean-vanilla crรจme brรปlรฉe served with black tea ice cream. The crisp caramel shell and subtle tea notes make it the perfect sweet finish. The vibe is super chill and very East Village. If you want something creative,

The food was absolutely delicious! Iโ€™d never tried this style of cuisine before, and it was such a great experience. The restaurant is also super cute with a cozy atmosphere. My favorite was the purple sweet potato noodlesโ€”they were so unique, and Iโ€™ve never had anything like them anywhere else. I also highly recommend the ribsโ€”they were incredibly flavorful and absolutely delicious

Had a great dining experience here. The music was good, the atmosphere had a great vibe, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. My favorite dish was the Cha Cha Steakโ€”the beef was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. I also really enjoyed the Nounou Talay, which was light and refreshing. The purple potato noodles were not only delicious but also beautifully presented and very aesthetic. Overall, a fun and enjoyable meal, and I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.
